The results of the survey conducted by Latin Lawyer demonstrate that there is still a significant difference between the number of female associates at business law firms in Latin America and the number of women in the partnership.

According to the survey, 49 per cent of associates in Latin American business law firms are female, a figure that declines to 20 per cent in the case of partners.

The findings demonstrate that advancements have been made in Latin America over the past 10 years: in Latin Lawyer’s 2002 survey, 12 per cent of partners in the region were women, a figure that rose to 16 per cent by 2006 and now stands at 20 per cent.
With this research, Latin Lawyer hopes to generate discussion on gender equality in Latin American law firms.
