Rodrigo, Elías & Medrano Abogados appoints three new partners

Rodrigo, Elias & Medrano Abogados is pleased to announce the promotion of three new partners as from January 2016. The new partners are Raúl Hidalgo, specialized in tax, Alejandro Manayalle, specialized in public services regulation and Jorge Trelles, who is an expert in banking and finance.

The three lawyers have been part of the firm since they were interns and have been promoted because of their excellent personal and professional skills and their commitment to the organization.

What follows below is a brief summary of each one:

Raúl Hidalgo, 37, earned his law degree with honors from the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú (2004), obtained the “Award for Academic Excellence in Law – Year 2002″ first place, granted by the public registry national authority (SUNARP) and was a Pontificia Universidad Católica – Luis Carlos Rodrigo Mazuré fellow. He started at the firm in January 2003 as an intern. Raúl specializes in administrative tax proceedings, advises domestic and international companies on general taxation matters, conducts audits and assists in infrastructure investment projects. He is a member of the Peruvian Institute of Tax Law (IPDT).

Alejandro Manayalle, 36, has a law degree from the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú (2005) and was a Pontificia Universidad Católica- Luis Carlos Rodrigo Mazuré fellow. He started at the firm in January 2005 as an intern. Alejandro finished an LL.M. at Columbia Law School – New York (2012) and spent later one year as international attorney at Cleary, Gottlieb, Steen & Hamilton in the same city, working with the arbitration team with special focus on investor-State disputes. He teaches Energy Law at the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú. Alejandro advises on infrastructure, public utilities and antitrust matters, on bidding and concessions proceedings, private initiatives, public-private partnerships and participates in international arbitration proceedings.

Jorge Trelles, 37, earned his law degree from the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú (2003), a master’s in International Business Law with emphasis in law and accounting from The London School of Economics and Political Science (2009) and was later foreign associate with Allen&Overy in New York, participating in transactions in several different countries in Latin America. He advises on capital markets, the structuring and negotiation of M&A operations, project finance for energy, infrastructure and mining projects and on restructuring and insolvency matters.
