Mr. Salas' principal expertise is in Corporate Law, including Mergers and Acquisitions, Commercial Law and Commercial Contracting, as well as in Corporate Governance and Organization of Family Businesses.
He is a member of the Board of Directors of various corporations operating in Peru, and Chair of Corporations Law at the Law School and Master of Business Law Program of the Graduate School of Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú. Was member until february 2008 of the Board of Directors of Comisión Nacional Supervisora de Empresas y Valores (CONASEV) [National Supervising Committee of Companies and Securities].
He has participated in the drafting of the Reform Law of the General Business Corporations Law currently in force, and was a member of the Reform Committee of the Registration Regulations of the Commercial Registry. He is also a member of the Good Corporate Governance Board organized by Centro de Estudios de Mercado de Capitales y Financiero (Stock and Financial Market Studies Center). As a member of the Committee responsible for the preparation of the Draft Good Corporate Governance Code, and which is integrated by representatives of Centro de Estudios de Mercado de Capitales y Financiero y de Procapitales , he presented this document to the specialized community in May 2002. In addition, he is a member of the List of Arbitrators of the Settlement and National and International Arbitration Center of the Lima Chamber of Commerce (2001), and was a member of the Justice Consultative Committee of the Ministry of Justice, appointed by Ministerial Resolution No. 134-2000-JUS dated May 4, 2000. Other important positions held by Mr. Salas include: Member of the List of Arbitrators of the Arbitration Center of Organismo Supervisor de Inversión Privada en Telecomunicaciones (OSIPTEL) [Supervising Agency of Private Investment in Telecommunications], appointed by Board of Directors' Resolution No. 034-2001-CD/OSIPTEL dated July 13, 2001. Member of the "A" Corporate Law Consultative Committee of the Lima Bar Association, appointed in the Board of Directors' session held on March 15, 2000, and April 19, 2001. Member of the "C" Commercial Law Consultative Committee of the Lima Bar Association, appointed in the Board of Directors' session held on March 15, 2000. Full member of the Minority Shareholders Protection Committee of Comisión Nacional Supervisora de Empresas y Valores (CONASEV), appointed by Resolution 173-98-EF/94.10 dated December 22,1998. Chairman of the Committee during 1999. Member of the "B" Commercial Law Consultative Committee (Corporations) of the Lima Bar Association (May 1995 - December 1996). Acting member of the Market Access and Exit Simplification Committee of Instituto Nacional de Defensa de la Competencia y de la Protección de la Propiedad Intelectual (INDECOPI) [National Institute for the Defense of Competition and Protection of Intellectual Property], created by Law Decree N° 26116 (January - May 1993). Member of the Committee responsible for the preparation of the preliminary draft of the Reform Law of Law N°16123 on Commercial Corporations (Supreme Resolution N°054-81-JUS dated August 25 , 1981).
