Experience

Mr. Velarde's principal expertise is in Transportation, Civil Aviation and Insurance, and has extensive experience in international litigation. He has coordinated and actively participated in the defense of client interests in a variety of jurisdictions. Mr. Velarde has also acted as an expert in Peruvian law in several forums.

He has also participated in significant international transactions, mainly by representing foreign clients in the acquisition of local private companies and in the privatization of companies from different production sectors.

Mr. Velarde has had primary responsibility for the representation of aviation reinsurers and air operators in liability claims derived from air transportation, having directly participated in cases involving all major aviation accidents in Peru since 1980.

In particular, he has vast experience in transactions related to the financing and facilitation of aircraft, where he has represented the interests of owners and financial entities in the sale, mortgage, lease and other forms of aircraft facilitation in favor of air operators.

In insurance and reinsurance matters, he has represented international reinsurers and brokers, as well as local insurers, brokers and insurance adjusters.

In corporate matters, Mr. Velarde has participated in a variety of operations and transactions related to corporate mergers and acquisitions. He also advises clients in shareholders' meetings and participates in the Board of Directors of several companies.
