Experience

Ms. Vega's principal expertise is in Foreign Investment, Concessions and Privatizations, International Practice, Corporate Law, Financial Law and Electronic Commerce. A major part of her work focuses on advising foreign and local companies on investment planning in Peru and the design of the most suitable financing strategy to allow further successful development.

She advises clients on the benefits and incentives offered by Peruvian laws with regard to investment. She also advises them in connection with their relationships with government entities responsible for the promotion of these transactions.

Moreover, her practice encompasses the follow-up of investments in the different economic sectors, collaborating in the solution of the problems that may be encountered with the authorities.

She has had significant responsibility for the representation of clients in a variety of privatization and concession processes, particularly, in the case of concessions, public auctions for the purchase of shares of hydrocarbon sector companies and public bidding proceedings referred to infrastructure and public services concessions, such as roads, airports, electric energy, water, ornamental projects and hotel sector works, among others.

She has participated in the negotiation of share purchase agreements, concession contracts, stability and investment contracts with the State, as well as in association, consortium and joint venture contracts and international financing contracts, among others.

She has served as legal advisor to the Presidency of Comisión Nacional de Inversiones y Tecnologías Extranjeras - CONITE [National Committee of Investments and Foreign Technologies], currently PROINVERSION, from 1991 to 1992; and PROMPERU, from 1993 to 1994. During these periods, she was also a member of the team responsible for negotiating, on behalf of the Peruvian Government, Bilateral Investment Treaties (BITs).

Ms. Vega was also a member of the Unfair Competition Committee of Instituto Nacional de Defensa de la Competencia y de la Protección de la Propiedad Intelectual - INDECOPI (National Institute for the Defense of Competition and Protection of Intellectual Property) from 1995 to 1997.
