CONSTRUCTION AND GOVERNMENT PROCUREMENT

Based on the professional experience of its members, the Construction and Government Procurement Practice Group of Rodrigo, Elías & Medrano Abogados has participated in large-scale projects that have a considerable bearing on Peru's development.

While representing important local and foreign construction companies, our lawyers have negotiated with the Peruvian State, the building of significant hydraulic, energy and infrastructure works, such as the Mantaro Hydroelectric Power Station, the Tablacara Dam, the San Gabán Hydroelectric Power Station, the Majes Irrigation, the main transmission lines of the electric system, the Ilo Thermoelectric Power Station and several works of the national road network.

As far as private construction is concerned, the Area has also participated in the design and implementation of various megaprojects in the mining, energy, electric, infrastructure and public services sectors.

Moreover, our lawyers have participated in works aimed at the development of mining facilities and the mineral duct of Compañía Minera Antamina and in civil works contracts for the construction of the new headquarters of a variety of financial institutions and Jockey Plaza Shopping Center in Lima.

The Construction and Government Procurement Area provides advisory in judicial, administrative and arbitration disputes arising from public selection proceedings and the performance of contracts involving works execution, goods supply, consultancy, provision of services to the State, subcontracting, as well as turnkey and Boot contracts.

One of the Area's leading lawyers and senior partner, Mr. Juan del Busto, has been a member of the CONSULCOP (currently CONSUCODE) court (the final administrative instance in government procurement), and has actively participated in the conception and development of the current legal framework regarding concessions. He has also published various specialized articles on this subject.

Furthermore, some of the members of this Area have taken specialization courses in international building contracts and Boot Contracts, in England and Sweden, respectively.

Another prominent member of this area and partner at our Law Firm has served as Legal Manager, and Research and Development Manager of CONSUCODE. He has also had tenure as Court Reporter of the Public Works Bidding and Contracts Court, and has participated in the drafting of the Government Procurement and Acquisition Law and its Regulations. At present, he serves as an arbitrator at CONSUCODE.
