CLOSURES AND AUTHORIZATIONS
I. IMARPE IS AUTHORIZED TO CARRY OUT AN EXPLORATORY FISHERY FOR HORSE MACKEREL WITH 10,000 TONNES AND MACKEREL WITH 3,000 TONNES
By Ministerial Resolution Nº 240-2023-PRODUCE published on July 21, 2023 in the extraordinary edition of the Official Gazette “El Peruano” corresponding to July 20, 2023, IMARPE was authorized to carry out an exploratory fishery of the horse mackerel resource with 10,000 tons and of mackerel with 3,000 tons.
It will start at 00.00 hours on the day of publication and will end at 23.59 hours on 27 July 2023 or until the respective authorized tonnages are reached. Exploratory fishery shall be carried out by larger-scale fishery vessels with a valid fishery permit for those resources and using purse seines with a mesh size of 38 mm (1 ½ inches). A member of the crew must carry out the biometric sampling on board after each haul and the Fishery Logbook Form must be handed in to the accredited inspectors at the authorized landing points.
II. MINISTERIAL RESOLUTION THAT ESTABLISHED THE CATCH QUOTAS FOR HORSE MACKEREL AND MACKEREL FOR 2023 IS AMENDED
By Ministerial Resolution Nº 241-2023-PRODUCE published in the Official Gazette “El Peruano” on 22 July 2023, Ministerial Resolution Nº 042-2023-PRODUCE, which established the catch quotas of horse mackerel and mackerel for 2023, was amended, modifying to 33,900 the mackerel quota applicable to the catches of artisanal fishery vessels.
III. IMARPE IS AUTHORIZED TO CARRY OUT AN EXPLORATORY FISHERY FOR ANCHOVY IN THE SOUTHERN ZONE.
By Ministerial Resolution Nº 252-2023-PRODUCE published in the Official Gazette “El Peruano” on 29 July 2023, IMARPE was authorized to carry out an exploratory fishery of the anchoveta resource in the southern zone of the country, in the maritime area from 16°00′ S to the extreme south. The aforementioned exploratory fishery will be carried out for ten (10) calendars and will begin at 00.00 hours on 3 August 2023. Larger scale purse seine fishery vessels with a valid fishery permit and Maximum Percentage Catch per Vessel (MCPV) for the southern area shall participate. The catches made by the vessels in this exploratory fishery will be part of the Maximum Catch Per Vessel Limit (MCPV South) allocated to them for the following fishery season.
IV. MODIFICATION OF THE CATCH QUOTA FOR THE GIANT SQUID OR SQUID RESOURCE FOR 2023
By Ministerial Resolution Nº 253-2023-PRODUCE published in the Official Gazette “El Peruano” on 28 July 2023, paragraph 1.1 of Article 1 of Ministerial Resolution Nº 186-2023-PRODUCE was modified, establishing a new catch quota of squid or squid resource for 2023 of 581,000 tons.
V. AUTHORIZATION FOR THE VICE-MINISTER OF FISHERIES AND AQUACULTURE TO TRAVEL TO THE 101ST MEETING OF THE IATC
By Ministerial Resolution Nº 256-2023-PRODUCE published in the extraordinary edition of the Official Gazette “El Peruano” corresponding to July 27, 2023, the trip of the Vice-Minister of Fisheries and Aquaculture Úrsula Desilú León Chempén to the 101st Meeting of the Inter-American Tropical Tuna Commission (IATTC) to be held in the city of Victoria, Canada from August 6 to 12, 2023 was authorized.
GENERAL REGULATIONS
I. THE FORMAT OF THE CATCH CERTIFICATE FOR EXPORTS TO THE EU FOR ARTISANAL VESSELS BETWEEN 12 AND 15 METRES IN LENGTH IS APPROVED
By Ministerial Resolution Nº 235-2023-PRODUCE published in the Official Gazette “El Peruano on 15 July 2023, the format of the Certificate of Catch for exports to the European Union from artisanal fishery vessels with a length of twelve to fifteen meters was approved.
II. LEGISLATIVE DECREE Nº 1290 ON THE SAFETY OF FISHERY AND AQUACULTURE PRODUCTS IS AMENDED
By Law Nº 31842 published in the Official Gazette “El Peruano” on 21 July 2023, Legislative Decree Nº 1290 on the strengthening of the safety of industrialized food and fishery and aquaculture products was amended to improve the safety management for micro and small enterprises.
I. APPOINTMENT OF THE HEAD OF THE NATIONAL FUND FOR FISHERIES DEVELOPMENT – FONDEPES
By Supreme Resolution Nº 016-2023-PRODUCE published in the Official Gazette “El Peruano” on 13 July 2023, Ms. Katia Natali Novoa Sánchez was appointed as Head of the National Fund for Fisheries Development – FONDEPES.
II. APPOINTMENT OF ADVISOR II OF THE MINISTERIAL OFFICE
By Ministerial Resolution N° 238-2023-PRODUCE published in the Official Gazette “El Peruano” on 18 July 2023, Ms. Mónica Antonia Rivera Olivera was appointed as Advisor II of the Ministerial Office of the Ministry of Production.
