Provisions were issued to allow access to Peruvian ports and shipyards to foreign-flagged fishing vessels fishing on the high seas, highly migratory, straddling or cross-border resources

Through DS 016-2020-PRODUCE published today Thursday, August 27, 2020, provisions and conditions were issued to allow access to Peruvian ports and shipyards to foreign-flagged fishing vessels fishing on the high seas, highly migratory, straddling or cross-border hydrobiological resources.

Thus, for example, vessels fishing straddling or cross-border resources must necessarily have the PRODUCE Satellite Tracking System installed and operational, and vessels fishing highly migratory resources must submit to PRODUCE a report and diagram of the satellite positioning (track) from the last departure to the entrance. Likewise, and for all cases, they must issue a signal under the “Aquatic Traffic Information and Monitoring System – SIMTRAC of the National Maritime Authority”.

Said vessels must be authorized to operate within the scope of regional organizations, if applicable, and shall not be on the final or definitive list of vessels involved in illegal, unreported and unregulated fishing of “Regional Fisheries Management Organizations”.
