By means of Ministerial Resolution Nº 191-2023-PRODUCE published today in the official edition of the Official Gazette “El Peruano” corresponding to June 1st, the first season of industrial anchovy fishery for the north central zone, which includes the maritime area located between the northern end of the Peruvian sea and 16°00′ LS and outside five (5) miles from the coastline, is set to begin. The Total Maximum Allowable Catch Limit (quota) will be 1’091,000 tons.
The formal start date of the season is subject to the result of an Exploratory Fishery starting at 00.00 hours on June 3rd and for a period of seven (7) calendar days in the mentioned maritime area. In principle, the end date of the season will be when IMARPE determines it due to environmental or biological circumstances or, failing that, when the mentioned quota is reached.
