On March 31, 2023 PROINVERSION announced the re-launching of the public tender for the award of the concession of the Longitudinal Highway of the Highlands – Section 4 (“Project”). The Project is a co-financed state initiative that consists of the concession of 955 km of road connecting the departments of Junín, Huancavelica, Ayacucho, Apurímac and Ica. The future concessionaire will be responsible for three (3) types of interventions: (i) the initial periodic maintenance of 770 km of road; (ii) the rehabilitation and improvement of 180 km of road; and (iii) the construction, operation and maintenance of 5 km of road.
The Project is expected to benefit 1,600,000 inhabitants within its area of influence based on the commercial, agricultural, and tourism movement along the road, which will result in economic growth in the departments of Junín, Huancavelica, Ayacucho, Apurímac, and Ica.
Currently, the Project is in full competition; however, PROINVERSION has communicated that it is working on updating the Project documents for the prompt awarding of the Project. Thus, the following schedule has been tentatively drawn up:
