Provisions to ensure continuity of electric power generation, transmission and distribution

On March 19, 2020, through Vice Ministerial Resolution 001-2020-MINEM/VME (“Resolution VM 1-20”), it has been provided that, during the validity of the State of National Emergency declared by Supreme Decree 044-2020-PCM, companies engaged in electric power generation, transmission and distribution activities must:

– Activate and execute safety protocols aimed at safeguarding the health of its personnel, contractors and/or third parties.

– Prioritize actions aimed at ensuring the continuity of the regular electric power supply.

– The personnel of these companies, including those of complementary and related service providers, contractors and/or third parties, at national level, as well as the Economic Operation Committee of the National Interconnected System (“COES”), they must process the necessary accreditation documents enabling them to transit and/or move by any means of transport in order to carry out the necessary activities in order to ensure the continuity of the regular electric power supply.

Likewise, Resolution VM 1-20 has established that within a maximum period of seventy-two (72) hours, which expires this Sunday, the companies that carry out electric power generation, transmission and distribution activities, as well as the COES, must submit their Contingency Plans to the Ministry of Energy and Mines and OSINERGMIN.
