Catch quota of the tuna resource was increased
Ministerial Resolution RM 126-2020-PRODUCE published today, Tuesday April 7, 2020, ordered the increase of the catch quota of the tuna resource (Sarda chiliensis chiliensis) to 76,000 tons for year 2020. This order applies to artisanal vessels that have a permit for fishing such resource.
The previous catch quota was 64,000 tons and was established by Ministerial Resolution RM 002-2020-PRODUCE, which ordered a catch quota of 51,200 tons for artisanal vessels and 12,800 tons for industrial vessels. The 12,000 additional tons ordered today interchangeably applies both to artisanal vessels and authorized industrial vessels.
