A catch quota of the giant squid resource was established for the year 2022
By Ministerial Resolution Nº 120-2022-PRODUCE published in an extraordinary edition of the Official Gazette “El Peruano” on April 1, 2022, the total maximum catch limit (quota) of the giant squid resource (Dosidicus gigas) was established at 500,000 tons for the year 2022.
Extractive activities suspension of the anchovy resource in the coastal zone
By Board Resolution Nº 037-2022-PRODUCE/DGSFS-PA published on the Ministry of Production’s website on April 2, 2022, the extractive activities of the anchovy resource (Engraulis ringens) and white anchovy (Anchoa nasus) were suspended for a period of 10 calendar days from 15:00 hours on April 2 to 15:00 hours on April 12, in the following areas.
– Between 16°30’S to 17°00’S of the Peruvian maritime domain.
– Between 17°30’S to 18°00’S of the Peruvian maritime domain.
Extractive activities suspension of the bonito resource
By Board Resolution Nº 038-2022-PRODUCE/DGSFS-PA published in the website of the Ministry of Production on April 16, 2022, the extractive activities of the bonito resource (Sarda chiliensis chiliensis) carried out by purse seine vessels were suspended from 00:00 hours on April 17.
Authorization for IMARPE to carry out Eureka LXXII operation for anchovy in the maritime area between Paita and Chala
Through Ministerial Resolution Nº 157-2022-PRODUCE published in an extraordinary edition of the Official Gazette “El Peruano” on April 23, 2022, the Peruvian Sea Institute was authorized to carry out the Eureka LXXII operation in the area between the towns of Paita and Chala, from 5 to 70 miles and for a period of five (5) days. This operation is carried out with the participation of 20 larger scale vessels with a hold capacity of not less than 270 m3.
Authorization of first industrial anchovy fishery season 2022 in the north-central zone with a quota of 2’792,000 tons and exploratory fishery
By Ministerial Resolution Nº 167-2022-PRODUCE, published in an extraordinary edition of April 30, 2022, the start of the first industrial fishery season of anchovy (Engraulis ringens) and white anchovy (Anchoa nasus) was authorized for indirect human consumption in the north-central zone between the northern end of the maritime domain and 16°00′ SL and with a Total Maximum Allowable Catch Limit (quota) of 2’792,000 tons. The beginning of this season starts from the date of completion of the exploratory fishery described in the following paragraph.
Likewise, an exploratory fishery shall begin at 00:00 hours on May 4, 2022 and for a period of 15 calendar days, in the maritime area outside 5 miles from the coastline and only between the northern end of the maritime domain and 06°00′ S and between 10°59′ S and 16°00′ S. The volume fished during this exploratory fishery shall be discounted to each participating vessel from the maximum catch limit assigned to them according to their maximum catch percentage.

Amendment of decree on strengthening of artisanal fisheries in the productive chains
By Supreme Decree Nº 003-2022-PRODUCE published in the Official Gazette “El Peruano” on April 14, 2022, paragraph 6.9 of Article 6 of Supreme Decree Nº 006-2016-PRODUCE was amended, establishing that under the Pilot Programs, fishery permits expire on March 31, 2022, in case of non-compliance with some of the general conditions.
