Fishery Alert – August 2023

Exploratory fishery of the anchovy resource is authorized in areas of the North-Central coast with the participation of larger scale vessels

By means of Ministerial Resolution Nº 262-2023-PRODUCE published today August 3rd as an extraordinary edition of the Official Gazette «El Peruano» corresponding to August 2nd, IMARPE was authorized to carry out an Exploratory Fishery of the anchovy resource in the North-Central area, with the participation of larger scale purse seine vessels with a valid fishery permit and for a period of 10 consecutive calendar days. The said Exploratory Fishery starts at 00.00 hours on the day following the publication of the aforementioned resolution.

The specific areas authorized for such exploratory fishery are:

• Between 4°00’S – 6°59’S outside 5 miles from the coast.
• Between 7°00’S – 9°29’S outside 20 miles from the coast
• Between 9°30’S – 10°59’S within 5 miles offshore
• Between 11°00’S – 13°59’S outside 20 miles offshore
• Between 14°00’S – 15°59’S outside 5 miles offshore

The catches made by vessels will be deducted from their corresponding Maximum Catch Limit per Vessel (MCLV), allocated for the First Fishery Season 2023.
