By Supreme Decree N° 003-2024-MINAM published in the Official Gazette “El Peruano” today April 26, 2024, the National Reserve “Mar Tropical de Grau” was established with an area of 115,675.89 has, in four sectors: Isla Foca, Cabo Blanco – El Ñuro, Punta Sal Reefs and Mancora Bank, located in front of the departments of Piura and Tumbes.
The indicated objective is the conservation of a representative sample of the ecosystems of the Peruvian tropical sea, to contribute to the continuity of the ecological processes and to promote the sustainable use of natural resources with a gender perspective.
The rights acquired prior to the establishment of this Reserve are respected and will be exercised in harmony with the objectives and purposes of its creation. The exercise of rights granted after its creation for the development of natural resource use activities will be allowed, as long as they are carried out in accordance with its zoning, its preliminary and/or current Master Plan. The technical file that supports its establishment constitutes its Preliminary Master Plan.
