Through Ministerial Resolution N° 222-2024-PRODUCE, published today May 29, 2024 in the Official Gazette «El Peruano», the catch quota of the giant squid or squid resource for 2024 was established at 499,683 tons.
It is also provided that Peruvian artisanal fishing vessels registered before the South Pacific Regional Fisheries Management Organization (RFMO-SP) and with no more than 15 meters in length, when they carry out extractive activities of the mentioned resource in the area of application of the RFMO-SP Convention, they must deliver the Artisanal Catch and Effort registration form to the IMARPE professionals located at the authorized landing points or to the authorized inspectors of the General Direction of Supervision, Inspection and Sanction or, of the Regional Governments’ competent agencies.
