LIMITS ARE SET FOR ASSIGNMENT OF RADIO SPECTRUM IN MEDIUM AND LOW FREQUENCY BANDS
On February 13, 2019, Ministerial Resolution 085-2019 MTC/01.03 (“Resolution”) was published in the “El Peruano” Official Gazette, whereby limits to the assignment of radio spectrum were set, by group of bands, applicable by operator or economic group, in the same geographical area of assignment at national, provincial or district level.
In accordance with the provisions of such regulation, the following limits of radio spectrum were set in the following bands:
Low Frequency Bands:
The limit to the assignment of radio spectrum set for low frequency bands is 60MHz. A low frequency band is considered to be every band within a range below or equal to 1GHz (450MHz, 700MHz, 800MHz, 850MHz and 900MHz).
Medium Frequency Bands:
The limit to the assignment of radio spectrum set for medium frequency bands is 250MHz. A medium frequency band is considered to be every band within a range above 1GHz up to 6HGz (1900MHz, 1.7/2.1GHz, 2.3GHz, 2.5 GHz, 3.5 GHz, 3.7 GHz).
Furthermore, Section 3.2 of the Resolution states that the radio spectrum limits approved before the effectiveness of this Minister’s Office Resolution are no longer applicable.
