ALERT - FISHERY

1. Reproductive closure was established for Hake resource in the coastal zone

Through RM 299-2020-PRODUCE published on September 6, 2020, the reproductive closure of the Hake resource (Merluccius gayi peruanus) was established in the area between 4°00′ S and 5°00′ S from 00.00 hours the following day the resolution is published and for a period of 35 calendar days. The same resolution also provides for the reproductive closure of these resources in the area between the extreme north and 4°00 ‘S from 00:00 on September 7 and for a period of 35 calendar days. It must be noted that by the date of publication of the rule, both closures are valid from the same day.

 Likewise, it is provided that the processing of said resource shall be allowed up to 48 hours after the closure and the commercialization shall be allowed at any time as long as there is an undoubted document and a certain date that the resource was captured before the closure”

2. Authorized and technical Weighing Instruments are established for weighing of anchovy in high protein CHI plants

Through RM 296-2020-PRODUCE published on September 6, 2020, the weighing instruments and technical requirements for the weighing of anchovy resources (Engraulis ringens) and white anchovy (Anchoa nassus) in plants for indirect human consumption with a high protein content were established. The allowed weighing instruments are:

  • Automatic discontinuous totalizing weighing instruments (weighing hoppers)
  • Automatic continuous totalizing weighing instruments (belt weigher)
  •  Non-automatic weighing instrument

 The owners of the plants shall have 180 calendar days from the resolution is published for the implementation.
