During the liberalization of Peru’s economy in the 1990s, our firm took a central role in advising on the privatization of state-owned mining companies. Over the years, we have evolved alongside the industry—consistently adapting to its changes and participating, year after year, in the country’s most significant mining projects.
Our deep-rooted relationship with the mining sector has afforded us a comprehensive understanding of its various stages—from the filing of mining claims to mine closure; of the full range of related activities—from early-stage reconnaissance and exploration to extraction and mineral commercialization; and of its diverse needs and challenges—from day-to-day regulatory compliance to the resolution of disputes before administrative, judicial, and arbitral bodies.
We are actively involved in the assessment, acquisition, financing, development, operation, and closure of mining projects; in the design and implementation of strategies to secure the permits required to carry out mining activities in Peru; in the negotiation of legal stability agreements that protect investors from changes in regulatory frameworks; and in fostering appropriate relations with the various actors that make up the mining ecosystem.
