About us

Rodrigo, 60 years of tradition, driven by change

Since our inception, we have been guided by an ambition that is already a tradition: a commitment to excellence in the practice of law. Backed by this legacy, we are constantly evolving to lead the market and be the strategic partner our clients need.

We opened our offices in Lima in 1965 with the purpose of driving the modernization of the legal practice in Peru. Today, we are recognized by the most prestigious publications as the leading benchmark for excellence and innovation in the Peruvian legal market, and as one of the most outstanding firms in Latin America.

After 60 years of challenges and continuous growth, the essence of the firm remains unchanged: an unwavering commitment to our clients, grounded in a culture of dedication, integrity and strict professional ethics. It is the experience gained over this trajectory and the strength of our core principles —combined with our ability to adapt to new scenarios— that positions us as the undisputed leaders in the field in Peru.

We are a multidisciplinary team, capable of managing multiple sophisticated and demanding matters simultaneously, with timeliness and efficiency. Our specialization in over 40 practice areas enables us to approach complex cases strategically, anticipating our clients' needs and delivering comprehensive, highly customized solutions.

As part of our commitment to excellence, we are constantly expanding our capabilities, integrating new technologies into our practice, and training the next generation of lawyers to become the most outstanding professionals in the field. This vision drives us to continuously evolve and remain at the forefront of legal practice in the region.

History

The Tenacity of a Legacy
Pioneers in the modernization of legal practice in Peru, we continue to forge our path toward the future honoring the principles and values that have guided us from the outset.

A clear vision inspired the founding of Rodrigo: to establish a law firm that would transcend family ties among its members, offering all its lawyers an opportunity to become partners. By opening access to partnership through a merit-based system, our founders —Luis Carlos Rodrigo Mazuré (+), Enrique Elías Laroza (+) and Humberto Medrano Cornejo— positioned the firm at the forefront of legal practice in our country. Their legacy endures to this day: we are one of the firms with the highest partner-to-lawyer ratios in the region.

Throughout our journey, we have faced challenges that have driven us to grow and expand our capabilities. Yet, our core values remain unchanged. Our confidence in this tradition —rooted in a deep commitment to our clients— allows us to look to future with both optimism and resolve. We continue to build a solid, forward-thinking institution, design to stand the test of time— an institution that is far greater than the sum of its parts.

Milestones

Foundation

On July 1, 1965, a group of young lawyers came together to establish the first non-family law firm in the Peruvian market, with the purpose of modernizing the practice of law in Peru.

We build relationships of mutual trust with our clients. We align ourselves with their vision and purpose, offering legal advice tailored to every stage of their development.

Law is a living discipline, constantly evolving. Staying at the forefront of the global legal market requires the foresight to anticipate change and the agility to adapt to shifting landscapes. This is why at Rodrigo we continuously update our knowledge and capabilities to meet the demands of a changing world -particularly the rise of the digital environment. Cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, digital assets and legaltech are common topics today. The transformation is comprehensive: we also incorporate new technological tools into our workflows, allowing us to streamline processes, enhance our performance and deliver timely solutions to our clients.

By training the best legal talent in the country, we are charting the course of innovation in Peru and the region. We offer mentoring programs, promote specialization and facilitate internships at leading international law firms —all part of our commitment to professional development. To ensure that every member of our team reaches their full potential, both professionally and personally, we foster a flexible and equitable work environment— one that respects individual diferences and actively promotes diversity.

Our commitment to continuous transformation is a defining part of our legacy: by founding a firm where partnership is accessible to all its members, we embraced a vision of diversity that has only grown stronger over time. As a result, we have a multidisciplinary team of lawyers whose diverse perspectives, experiences and expertise are essential to meet each client's needs with sound judgment, creativity, and technical excellence.

Our guiding principle is to always deliver truly comprehensive service: ensuring that every legal need —wether anticipated or not—of those who place their trust in us, is addressed thoroughly and effectively in our hands.

"It is a very important firm in Peru and their offering is full-service. The team has such high experience in every area that they cover."

Pro bono

Giving Back in Return
We believe in solidarity and gratitude and view it as essential that our contribution to society be tangible. That is why we provide specialized legal counsel to individuals and organizations that champion just causes but lack the means to access adequate legal representation.

We understand the practice of law to be more than a profession: it is an opportunity to give back to society through our work. Guided by this conviction, we provide free legal counsel to both national and international non-profit organizations, whose efforts generate a positive impact. We also support individuals facing complex circumstances who lack the resources necessary to access proper legal representation.

Our pro bono team takes on these causes with the same commitment and dedication that define our practice. Through this work, we reaffirm values we consider essential: solidarity, gratitude and social responsibility.

We are part of TrustLaw Connect, a global program led by the Thomson Reuters Foundation, that connects law firms with high-impact social initiatives. We are also signatories to the Pro Bono Declaration for the Americas, an initiative of the Vance Center that promotes and recognizes the volunteer work of lawyers across the region.

While our greatest reward lies in being part of initiatives rooted in solidarity, we believe it is worth highlighting some recognition our pro bono work has received:

  • Law Firm: Recognized as a “Probono Leading Light” in 2016, 2017 and 2018 by Latin Lawyer and the Vance Center.

  • Projects: The Fair Trials International Project (a UK-based NGO) was nominated for the TrustLaw Awards 2018 (*TrustLaw is the pro bono legal arm of Thomson Reuters); The Comparative Analysis on Child Marriage in Latin America organized by Fundación Renacer and Save the Children Colombia was nominated for the TrustLaw Awards 2025; The Emergency Mechanical Ventilators Project (MASI), aimed at fighting COVID-19, won Pro Bono Project of the Year 2021 from Latin Lawyer; A sustainable investments promotion project won the Green Recovery Challenge Fund - Greening Financial Systems from UK PACT in 2021.

Other interesting cases we have participated in over the past few years include:

  • Sumaq Wasi Project– Warm Homes: A public-private initiative led by the Ministry of Housing, which has enabled the construction of thousands of sustainable bioclimatic homes in rural Andean areas severely affected by extreme cold weather.

  • Promotion of Sustainable Investment: Participation in the winning project of the Green Recovery Challenge Fund – Greening Financial Systems by UK PACT, focused on encouraging the integration of environmental considerations into investment decision-making processes and raising awareness of sustainable finance.

  • Comparative Analysis on Child Marriage in Latin America: International Research organized by Fundación Renacer and Save the Children Colombia on the regulation of child marriage in Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, México, Panama and Peru. The study has served as a basis for proposing solutions to child marriage as a social issue.
