Energy

Our team combines deep technical knowledge with a clear understanding of the commercial and regulatory landscape, allowing us to provide specialized and cross-cutting legal counsel across the various activities that make up the electricity sector. We cover generation, transmission, supply, and distribution of electric power, delivering practical and efficient solutions that meet both the industry’s regulatory requirements and the commercial needs of our clients.

Since 1993, when the privatization process of Peru’s energy markets began, we have advised numerous bidders in transmission project tenders called by PROINVERSIÓN, as well as on generation initiatives promoted by both the State and the private sector. We also advise on renewable energy generation auctions organized by OSINERGMIN and on renewable projects led by private investors.

At the regulatory level, we have actively contributed to the debate and drafting of Law No. 28832, enacted in July 2006, which aimed to ensure the efficient development of power generation through the introduction of second-generation reforms in the electricity sector. At the request of the World Bank, we drafted a proposed regulation for a new rural electrification plan, which served as the basis for Law No. 28749, the General Law on Rural Electrification, which remains in force.

Our practice includes advising on the resolution of disputes between companies, challenging mandates and resolution issued by regulatory agencies, and handling user complaints. In addition, we are actively involved in tariff regulation proceedings and in the issuance of interconnection mandates between electrical facilities.
