The Annulment of the First Conviction for Corporate Criminal Liability in Peru
On September 8, 2026, the Third National Appellate Criminal Chamber (hereinafter, the "Chamber") annulled the conviction imposed on the company Alpha Consult S.A. in May 2025, which had at the time marked a milestone as the first company convicted of money laundering under Law No. 30424, which governs corporate criminal liability. While the Chamber upheld the convictions imposed on the individuals involved, it ordered that a new oral trial be held with respect to Alpha Consult, upon finding deficiencies in the reasoning underlying the first-instance conviction.
