FISHERY CLOSURES AND AUTHORIZATIONS
- GIANT SQUID CATCH QUOTA ESTABLISHED FOR JANUARY – FEBRUARY 2026: Ministerial Resolution No. 443-2025-PRODUCE, published in the Official Gazette El Peruano on January 1, established a catch quota of 76,324 tons for giant squid during the period January – February 2026.
- CATTAGE QUOTA ESTABLISHED FOR JACK PIG AND MACKEREL FOR 2026 APPLICABLE TO ARTISANAL VESSELS: Ministerial Resolution No. 444-2025-PRODUCE, published in the Official Gazette El Peruano on January 1, established a catch quota of 86,683 tons for jack mackerel and 41,819 tons for artisanal mackerel and mackerel, respectively. It is specified that for the period between January and April 2026, the quota for these resources will be 34,427 and 21,155 tons, respectively.
- SEA URCHIN CATCH QUOTA ESTABLISHED FOR 2026: Ministerial Resolution No. 445-2025-PRODUCE, published in the Official Gazette El Peruano on January 1, established a catch quota of 403.83 tons for the sea urchin resource in the Choral and Punto Oscuyo area (excluding Punta Atico).
- GIANT SQUID CATCH QUOTA MODIFIED: Ministerial Resolution No. 018-2026-PRODUCE, published in the Official Gazette El Peruano on January 27, established that artisanal fishery vessels will not be subject to the limits and tolerances established in subparagraph f) of Ministerial Resolution No. 443-2025-PRODUCE.
- THE SECOND ANCHOVY FISHERY SEASON OF 2025 IN THE NORTH-CENTRAL ZONE HAS BEEN DECLARED OVER: Ministerial Resolution No. 022-2026-PRODUCE, published in the Official Gazette El Peruano on January 31, declared the second anchovy fishery season of 2025 over in the north-central zone, in the area between the northernmost point of the maritime domain and 16°00’S, effective 00:00 hours on the day following the publication of this resolution. Unloading and processing are permitted within 24 and 48 hours, respectively, of the season's end.
GENERAL REGULATIONS
- EXTENDED TERM OF MULTISECTORAL WORKING GROUP: Ministerial Resolution No. 442-2025-PRODUCE, published in the Official Gazette El Peruano on January 1, extended the term of the Multisectoral Working Group created by Ministerial Resolution No. 182-2020-PRODUCE until December 31, 2027.
- CLARIFIED CONSERVATION AND MANAGEMENT MEASURES FOR GIANT SQUID FISHERY WITHIN THE SPRFMO-PS AREA: Ministerial Resolution No. 016-2026-PRODUCE, published in the Official Gazette El Peruano on January 21, clarified compliance regulations for management and conservation measures on the high seas for giant squid fishery, pursuant to the vessel registry established in Supreme Decree No. 002-2015-PRODUCE. within the framework of the OROP-PS.
- NATIONAL PROGRAM FOR INNOVATION AND PRODUCTIVE DEVELOPMENT – PROINNOVATE CREATED: By Supreme Decree No. 002-2026-PRODUCE, published in the Official Gazette El Peruano on January 24, the National Program for Innovation and Development – PROINNOVATE was created, with the objective of promoting, increasing, and consolidating innovation, productive development, technological development, and entrepreneurship in the country.
APPOINTMENTS
- APPOINTMENT OF ADVISOR TO THE GENERAL SECRETARIAT: By Ministerial Resolution No. 008-2026-PRODUCE, published in the Official Gazette El Peruano on January 16, Ms. Heidi Soraya Cárdenas Arce was appointed as Advisor to the General Secretariat of the Ministry of Production.
