FISHING CLOSURES AND AUTHORIZATIONS

  • SUSPENSION OF JUMBO FLYING SQUID (POTA) FISHING ACTIVITIES FOR VESSELS WITH A HOLD CAPACITY OF LESS THAN 10 M³: Through Directoral Resolution No. 088-2026-PRODUCE/DGSFS-PA, published on the Ministry of Production's website on July 1, fishing activities for jumbo flying squid (pota) by artisanal vessels with a hold capacity of less than 10 m³ were suspended, effective from 12:00 a.m. on July 3, 2026.
  • AMENDMENT TO THE CATCH LIMIT FOR JUMBO FLYING SQUID (POTA): Through Ministerial Resolution No. 191-2026-PRODUCE, published in the Official Gazette El Peruano on July 15, the catch limit for jumbo flying squid (pota) for the January–December 2026 period was amended to 589,230 metric tons.
  • AMENDMENT TO THE REGULATIONS GOVERNING BONITO CATCHES FOR THE JANUARY–DECEMBER 2026 PERIOD: Through Ministerial Resolution No. 194-2026-PRODUCE, published in the Official Gazette El Peruano on July 14, Article 8 of Ministerial Resolution No. 169-2026-PRODUCE was amended with respect to the authorized landing sites for the bonito fishery.

GENERAL REGULATIONS

  • PROVISIONS ESTABLISHED FOR SPECIES LISTED UNDER THE CITES CONVENTION: Through Supreme Decree No. 009-2026-PRODUCE, published in the Official Gazette El Peruano on July 16, provisions were established governing procedures related to species included in the appendices to the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES).
  • SECTORAL WORKING GROUP ESTABLISHED FOR THE CERTIFICATION OF THE JUMBO FLYING SQUID (POTA) FISHERY: Through Ministerial Resolution No. 203-2026-PRODUCE, published in the Official Gazette El Peruano on July 23, a Sectoral Working Group was established to coordinate actions aimed at strengthening the sustainability and improving the management of the jumbo flying squid (pota) fishery. The Working Group is composed of representatives from the public fisheries sector and one representative of the Peruvian Chamber of Jumbo Flying Squid.
  • CONSERVATION MEASURES ESTABLISHED FOR TUNA IN COMPLIANCE WITH IATTC RESOLUTIONS: Through Ministerial Resolution No. 218-2026-PRODUCE, published in the Official Gazette El Peruano on July 27, conservation measures were established regarding closed fishing seasons for tuna applicable to Peruvian-flagged vessels holding fishing permits for that resource, in compliance with resolutions issued by the Inter-American Tropical Tuna Commission (IATTC).
  • PROVISIONS APPROVED FOR THE IMPLEMENTATION OF THE ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT REGULATIONS FOR THE FISHERIES AND AQUACULTURE SUBSECTORS: Through Ministerial Resolution No. 219-2026-PRODUCE, published in the Official Gazette El Peruano on July 27, the assumptions and provisions necessary to facilitate the application of significant modifications, non-significant modifications, and actions that do not require amendments under the Environmental Management Regulations for the Fisheries and Aquaculture Subsectors were approved.

APPOINTMENTS

  • MINISTER OF PRODUCTION APPOINTED: Through Supreme Resolution No. 233-2026-PCM, published in a special edition of the Official Gazette El Peruano on July 28, Mr. Juan Carlos Requejo Alemán was appointed as Minister of Production.
  • HEAD OF COMMUNICATIONS AND INSTITUTIONAL IMAGE APPOINTED: Through Ministerial Resolution No. 220-2026-PRODUCE, published in the Official Gazette El Peruano on July 31, Ms. Adriana Janette Rodriguez Jadrosich was appointed as Head of Communications and Institutional Image of the General Secretariat of the Ministry of Production.
