Supreme Decree No. 014-2021-EM is amended, which establishes measures related to sulfur content in Diesel, Gasoline and Gasohol for its commercialization and use and simplifies the number of Gasoline and Gasohol
On June 1, 2025, was published in the Official Gazette “El Peruano” the Supreme Decree No. 011-2025-EM (hereinafter, the ‘Decree’), which amended Article 4 and the Sole Transitory Complementary Provision of Supreme Decree No. 014-2021-EM (hereinafter, the “Decree”). 011-2025-EM (hereinafter, the “Decree”), which amended Article 4 and the Sole Transitory Complementary Provision of Supreme Decree No. 014-2021-EM, rule that establishes measures related to the sulfur content in Diesel, Gasoline and Gasohol for its commercialization and use, and simplifies the number of Gasolines and Gasohol (hereinafter, the “Rule on sulfur content”).
Among the main amendments approved by the Decree, the following stand out:
- Article 4 of the Standard on sulfur content is modified, extending the terms for the use and mandatory commercialization of DieselB5, Regular Gasoline and Gasohol and Premium Gasoline and Gasohol, with sulfur content no higher than 10 ppm.
- The use of 84 octane Gasoline in the department of Loreto is extended until June 30, 2026.
- New deadlines and obligations are established for compliance with the provisions of Article 4 of the Sulfur Content Standard (modified by the Decree) in charge of Producers, Importers, Supply Plants, Terminals, Wholesale Distributors, Refineries, Retail Establishment operators, Direct Consumers, as well as holders in charge of refining or hydrocarbon processing facilities that are under the scope of Supreme Decree No. 003-2023-EM, Supreme Decree that dictates measures to ensure the operation of hydrocarbon refining and processing facilities to optimize energy security.
