Beyond Suspicious Transaction Reports: The New Obligation for Reporting Entities to Submit Alerts to UIF-Peru

On April 22, 2026, through SBS Resolution No. 01219-2026, the Peruvian Superintendency of Banking, Insurance and Private Pension Funds Administrators (SBS) introduced an additional reporting obligation. Under this new requirement, entities obligated to report to the Financial Intelligence Unit of Peru (UIF-Peru) must submit “alerts” when transactions carried out by their clients do not meet the criteria to be classified as suspicious transactions, but nonetheless contain information that may be useful for the prevention of money laundering.
