ACREDITA SALUD: health coverage accreditation system
Acredita Salud is a platform that connects insurers (EsSalud, EPS providers, private insurers, and SIS) with IPRESS healthcare providers to verify whether a patient has healthcare coverage and is entitled to receive medical care.
Clinics, hospitals, polyclinics, and other public, private, or mixed healthcare facilities that qualify as Healthcare Service Provider Institutions (IPRESS) must implement the Electronic Transaction Model for the Insured Accreditation Process – ACREDITA SALUD.
This model establishes a digital information exchange system between IPRESS entities and Health Insurance Fund Administrators (IAFAS), enabling verification of patients’ coverage and ensuring continuity of healthcare services.
The provisions, scope, and operation of the model are regulated by Superintendence Resolution No. 034-2025-SUSALUD/S, as amended by Superintendence Resolution No. 119-2025-SUSALUD/S.
What does the model consist of?
- Establishes a real-time electronic consultation mechanism between IPRESS and IAFAS for the accreditation of insured individuals.
- Enables verification of patients’ coverage prior to the provision of healthcare services, reducing the risk of observations, denials, or contingencies in service delivery.
- Progressively replaces previous accreditation mechanisms (such as SITEDS), promoting a standardized, interoperable, and digital system.
- Seeks to ensure continuity, timeliness, and transparency in healthcare services, as well as proper information management among the actors within the healthcare system.
Considerations for its implementation
- Requires the adaptation of the internal systems of IPRESS entities, as well as their interoperability with the platforms of the IAFAS entities.
- Its implementation depends on connectivity and coordination between IPRESS and IAFAS entities, which has resulted in a gradual rollout across the sector.
- Approximately 27% of IAFAS entities and various IPRESS entities are still in the process of technological adaptation to comply with the requirements of the model.
