FORMULA FOR CALCULATING FEES FOR CARRIER SERVICES USING DIGITAL TRANSMISSION SYSTEMS MODIFIED

On October 30, Supreme Decree No. 017-2025-MTC was published in El Peruano, modifying Article 231, paragraph 1 of the Regulations of the General Telecommunications Law referring to the formula for calculating fees for carrier services.

Specifically, in the case of concessionaires “with infrastructure greater than 500 small satellite stations or terminals, whose diameter or dimension is less than or equal to 1.8 m, including mobile earth stations (ESIM),” the regulation provides a new formula for calculating fees. This formula would only be applicable to fees corresponding to such small terminals and includes the following factors, among others:

  1. Bandwidth (BW), which is the sum of the uplink and downlink bandwidths of all stations and terminals operated, in MHz.
  2. The Frequency Band Weighting Coefficient (CPB), whose value depends on the frequency at which the licensee operates

The purpose of the standard would be to promote the deployment of satellite services, whose coverage is increasing due to the growth of companies that use stations or terminals such as those described in the standard to reach remote regions of the country.
